DIY: Oh Deer!

Oh Deer! is the last of my DIY projects. It was fun and quite easy to assemble it: just be sure to use a +1,5 mm thick wire because mine was a bit too fragile and made the process kind of tricky. You will find complete instructions here.

Interior garden: terrariums

Facets seem to be a must this year. Here it is a green declination of the theme: I like terrariums very much, especially when the object has such a contemporary twist.

Object obsession: String System

Sometimes, very talented designers are able to come out with something that has more than "just" a great appearance or functionality or even the two things together. They come up with something that is able to last fashions and time. They come up with something that can touch your soul and be a companion through the stage of your own life. Those are the Masters and Swedish architect Nils Strinning is one of them.
To me, as a Scandinavian design addict, he is even more, being one of the leading mid-twentieth century designers who built the foundation of what we now call ”Scandinavian design”. He designed String in 1949 and it became an instant success: its secret is probably its versatility: Strinning designed a shelf that could take on many different looks and, through painstaking attention to detail, he created a system where each piece could be combined with the others in almost endless permutations. It doesn't belong to one particular space in the house, that means you can build it through time and change its location as many times as you wish (or your wall can sustain!). And, last but not least, it doesn't cost a fortune.

String System has been in my wish list since I cannot even remember when: the hardest part was to choose the shelves colour. I love the white+white combination but I felt wood would age better. Here are some pictures from String last styling by super talented Lotta Agaton and I believe I have found my most favourite version! It mantains the lightness of clear colours together with the warmth of wood.

WEEKEND SPECIAL | Minimal apartment in Germany

I leave with this flat in Hamburg, Germany. The grey and wood palette donates the place an elegant and relaxed atmosphere. My favourite details? The books on the bench; the cabinet and the display of art pieces.  All pictures are taken by Janne Peters. Have a nice weekend!

White bedroom in Stil Inspiration

I believe it takes a great amount of talent to come out with such a refined deoration: this bedroom by Pella Hedeby from STIL INSPIRATION manage to combine simplicity and character while creating such an intimate and elegant atmosphere. " Bedroom styling in white, with champagne coloured details and simple graphic contrasts" is how the interior stylist describes it in her blog. To me, it's simply perfect.

Ferm living new wall idea

Danish firm Ferm Living is launching new marvellous wall stickers to decorate our homes. Here it is Mini Dots. Not sure about a dotted wall? Just check these images from Instagrammer Deborah Moir from Glasgow, Scotland: so so inspiring.

Prints are from RKDesign and Lisa Bengtsson.

Lotta Agaton's work

There is true beauty in simplicity, I would say. And what's best of this work by Swedish styler Lotta Agaton to prove it? The perfect balance between grey shades and wood. I do heart Therese Sennerholt's works all over the place: the two Swedish girls are very close friends, the insiders say.

Have a lovely weekend!

New changes in our living room

We have been adding some new details to our living room, here in Barcelona. The cds display is done by now and I used some of the objects we had from our previous flat to add some "more interest": the Muji piggy bank, the Ikea candle holder and some geoballs diy I found months ago here.
The Three King and Santa have been very generous and "allowed me" to buy the Work Lamp by Design House Stockholm: the lamp has been moving a lot and I believe it has not finished the house tour yet!

This bungalow belongs to  Anne Louise Breiner, the designer behind the Copenhagen based studio BALlab. Picking a favourite object or idea from this house is hardly impossible: it's so packed with the ultimate trends in interior design and all highly mastered to create a unique combination functionality and cozyness, family space and creative lab. Most of the pieces come from Breiner's great passion: flea markets. Bless Nordic flea markets!
